About the game

Permafrost is a story-driven survival sandbox developed by SpaceRocket Games and published by Toplitz Productions. According to its official Steam page, it is set on a near-future Earth locked in endless winter after a series of catastrophes that ended with the shattering of the moon. The player is a "Rook", an engineer with the skills to rebuild but little wilderness experience, drawn into this world by a radio signal from a long-lost friend.

The game can be played solo or in co-op with up to 4 players. It involves exploring frozen cities and wilderness, surviving storms and frostbite, crossing faction-controlled territories, hunting, scavenging, crafting and building a network of shelters, with a rescued dog as a companion. Permafrost launched in Early Access on Steam for PC (Windows) on October 9, 2026.
