Lots of gaming news to go over. Watchd Dogs is not dead after all. We got new GTA 6 details, changes at Xbox, and more. So, good joining the Sunday news roundup. And let's go. We got a lot of new GTA 6 info thanks to an IGEN interview with Rockstar North's head of development and co-studio head, Rob Nelson. So, one of the things he noted was that the open world is heavily inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2. We already knew that the really cool open world events with interesting NPC interactions will be present in GTA 6. But in Red Dead Redemption 2, we could also find many things in the open world, including very unique cosmetic items. So, I would not be surprised if GTA 6 has more of that too. If you take a bit of time and explore, you will be rewarded a lot, according to Rockstar, of course. Now, I Jen's interview also reveals that the safe houses in GTA 6 will be a lot like camps in Red Dead Redemption 2. We can interact with objects, hang out with the other character, or switch characters. And we also have the option to cut our hair shorter, shave, and change some cosmetics. But if you want a new haircut or new clothes, we will have to go to a barber or store in the city with different saloons and clothing stores, of course, having location specific items. Another thing from Red Dead Redemption 2 is that we can study animals and add them to a collection. And Game Informer previously reported that there will be over 170 animal species. We already knew that the wanted system is more advanced as the police can now know what you look like, what you were wearing, which vehicle you were driving if you were in a duo. So changing those things can actually lower your heat. Yes. Including splitting up Jason and Lucia. And it's possible that the police are simply responding to a crime, but if they cannot identify you, they don't know who committed it. So, it really seems like careful and smart criminals will be rewarded with Rockstar saying that around the three stars, it's actually smarter to stay on foot as escaping in a vehicle will be really hard. In Ien's demo, Lucia left her car, jumped over fences, and then hid in a convenience store buying a baseball cap and gum while a police officer walked past outside. So, this could make for some very cool scenarios. It can rob pretty much anything, by the way, from banks to pawn shops, jewelry stores, and gang compounds. So, there's way more variety here. And money matters more in this game, as it's sometimes needed to continue the main story missions. And these missions should overall be more open. By the way, that tower block mission we saw in the Netflix showcase has multiple escape routes. For example, or in the mission where Jason is firing and Lucia is driving, once you get control of the vehicle, you can follow the escape route that Rockstar laid out for you or ignore it and find another way out. So, they basically want to give us more freedom compared to the more restrictive missions we had in the previous GTA games. They also said that the game is designed for multiple playthroughs as you simply won't be able to get everything out of the narrative during your first run. I'm sure we will get way more details as we near the release. We're getting close, almost less than a month away. I will of course keep you up to date on everything GTA 6 here. Let me know your hype level and what new detail is the most exciting to you in the comments. There's actually a GTA 6 mural being prepared in New York right now, so it's really happening. Again, let me know your hype level in the comments. And now, let's move on to more gaming news. Leave a like, that would really help me out, and subscribe because we post one of these big gaming news channel videos every Sunday. Time for quick shots, new stories I will go over quickly, including a new Wolverine update, sadly some layoffs, and way more. Starting with some Xbox updates, thanks to Windows Central and other sources that obtained information from an internal town hall meeting. For one, the Xbox CEO reportedly said, "We're moving to a family of devices for Gen 10. there's not one device that fits all. We will certainly have a great console first, but we also know that many players will be on the go. She also noted that they will not be making Arafing themselves, so there's a high chance that they might continue their partnership with Asus and let them make an actual Xbox Helix handheld instead of a PC with the Xbox OS. They want to treat their Xbox Series X and S audience and then later the Helix audience as their core business again. So they want to do things to increase engagement on those platforms. One great example of this is the mythic achievement which basically their platinum trophy equivalent which will be rolling out to everyone soon. It also seems that they want to make game pass more customizable so that subscribers can choose the perks that they want instead of Xbox deciding the tiers which could also be interesting. And they want to focus more on Battle.net as a PC platform by bringing in more than just Blizzard and Activision games. The Witcher [music] 3 being added recently as a third-p partyy title will apparently just be the start. So yes, Xbox will continue to make changes. I'm really curious how it all shakes out for them. I'll of course follow it here and let me know if this interesting to you in the comments down below. So the Marvel's Wolverine Scent Trail Saga seems to be over. Even if you have not played the game, you are likely aware of the huge blue line that appears when Logan is following someone's scent during a main story mission. Well, Skill Ops review in particular really called the game out for it and this caused Insomniac to make some changes. They first made the blue line less visible with a recent patch and now with the new update this week, they added a way to completely turn it off and only reveal it when you press R3. So, this is what Wolverine looked like at launch. You would have a blue line telling you where to go. And there would also be these routes indicating that a nightmare door was nearby for an optional challenge. basically not leaving anything up to the player to discover, but now you can also turn off those roots if you want. Basically making the game more challenging if you prefer that. Like I'm always for more options in games. So I think this great to see although it's mostly going to be useful for people who decide to pick up the game later as I would imagine that everyone else has already finished it by now. I really never cared that much about this as I was not playing this linear game for hidden secrets. But I do think this whole fallout regarding how much handholding Wolverine does will have a ripple effect on other Sony games. Like I would not be surprised if changes are made to la right now to at least make some of the handholding features optional or have them turned off by default because I do agree that Sony has gone a bit too far in its attempt to make its games as accessible to everyone as possible. But I'm really curious to hear what you think of course in the comments. We got quite a few sad layoff stories this week. The Hellblade Studio, Ninja Theory, has started laying off staff as we of course know that two potential deals to buy the studio fell through after Microsoft decided to get rid of them. So, it seems like they will be no more and that Senua game that they announced will not see the light of day, which is very sad. We also got more layoffs at Super Massive, the studio behind the Dark Pictures Anthology Games, The Amazing The Quarry, and of course, the original Until Dawn. They also laid off 30 people in July last year. But they, by the way, also just announced a new game that you can play on Netflix based on the conjuring. And we also got layoffs at Yellow Brick Games, the developers who released Eternal Strands last year. I don't think the game was the success that they hoped for. I had some fun with it, but I also expected a bit more. I of course hope that everyone affected lands on their feet. In the rumor roundup, I look at the biggest leaks and rumors of the week and rate them with stars. Three means I believe it and one means let's take this with a huge grain of salt. Well, we got some updates on that previously leaked Watchdog Legion director Scott with Insider Gaming now noted that it's planned for the first half of 2027. IGN is even saying that it's coming early next year, which I also think is more likely to be true. So potentially March 2027 if I had to bet. They already made a very good DLC with Aiden Pierce and Ranch. So, they've already brought back those characters, but it still feels like this director's cut will likely include a more focused main story and hopefully much deeper gameplay elements, like more ways to approach situations in stealth or hack things in the environment. Because while the idea of playing as anyone was cool on paper, it turned out to be quite shallow and the core Watchdog gameplay was not really expanded upon, which is something you do expect from a new game. Like Watchdog Legion always showed a ton of potential and their recreation of London was actually very cool, but it also lacked substance. So more open world activities or random events I think would help too. Totally. Let me know what you would like to see from an updated version of Watchdog Legion because this gets three stars. I do think this 100% happening as we now have multiple sources confirming it. But it is good to note that this will likely be it for a while as Ubisoft CEO Eves also said this week that Watchd Dogs is important, but don't expect a new one soon. But I think that they will return at one point and I would not be surprised if it's with a Watchdog one remake. Have it look as good as the original reveal. I think that would go pretty hard and I think we will see that one day. We also got some quick PlayStation rumors. A new Ape Escape revival is reportedly in the works from the Sonic Mania team. Veteran journalist Jeff Gman reported this first, and Video Games Chronicle can confirm this, too. And this does not seem to be the only dormant franchise Sony is looking to license out to third-part developers, which really seems like a great strategy. Like it's clear that they are focused on AAA games with their PlayStation Studios portfolio, but it would also be sad if we never saw some of these older franchises again. So going to these outside teams that have proven themselves with previous releases sounds good to me. But I'm curious to what extent they will do this. I think giving a different team Jack and Dexter or even Infamous would also be really cool, but those would obviously be maybe a bit bigger than an Ape Escape. three stars for this and totally let me know what other franchises you would like to see return. Also, a new PlayStation Portal model or revision has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. And well, in January this year, Kepler L2 said that Sony would be releasing a new OLED model and Kepler was the only one to report on this. So, if this is indeed true, then we can look at many of their other leaks as well, including where they said four months ago that the PS6 is not delayed out of 2027. So, even if you're not interested in an updated PlayStation streaming handheld, this could still be interesting. I'm giving this two stars as these revisions for the Portal might also not be OLED related, but I will keep you posted. This coming week, we got a couple of things. Starting with the launch of Feller Mortis, the first person soulsike set in a dark supernatural retelling of the Napoleonic Wars. It will be out on all platforms and on Game Pass Ultimate Day One. Battlefield 6 will also be joining GameS Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13th. And on that same day, they will be dropping season 5 with a new Las Vegas strip map that looks absolutely fantastic. Like I've always been of the mind that we need more games set in Vegas and this looks awesome. The new Castlevania drops on October 15th. Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments. I will of course have another gaming news run up like this at the end of the week. So subscribe to not miss it. Leave a like and I will speak to you very soon. Goodbye.
